RAIL-SLEEPER - New impregnating agents for wooden railway sleeper

In this project products with a better toxicological profile than creosote are under examination as alternatives for the impregnation of wooden railway sleepers. The demanded key properties have to be geared to those shown by creosote: high biological efficacy, long service-life, no increase of corrosion, low conductivity of impregnated sleepers and high resistance against physical and chemical stress. AIDA-F - Potential of interdisciplinary approaches for organizational innovations in freight transport

An awareness of the value and benefit of taking an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of challenges facing the Mobility of Goods has only developed to a certain extent, which is why interdisciplinary results are still hard to come by. External stimuli are usually required to open up introverted specialist debates on the phenomena that occur, to motivate a collaborative accomplishment of tasks and as such to mobilise innovation processes. New ways of expiriencing mobility through Research, Technology and Innovation

Social, economic and technological developments are placing increasingly more complex demands on the transport system and its capacity. New tech-nologies and innovations can significantly contribute to shaping sustainable mobility. They play an indispensable part in facing the major societal challenges such as climate change, scarcity of resources and demographic change and open up new economic opportunities for the transport sector, one of the most important economic branches in Austria Evelinde Grassegger, Andreas Dorda, Sarah Krautsack (BMVIT)

KV-FTI - Combined freight traffic - revealing the future potentials of research and innovation

Combined transport (CT) is an environmentally sensible and politically desired traffic, which is struggling with cost problems due to complicated supply chains. Previous innovations in CT have focused much on the development of new transhipment technologies. These innovations were very expensive and resulted in the medium term partly to a further increase in the cost of the supply chain. The intention of this study includes a redesign of the transport and business processes, the compatibility of interfaces (with orientation towards homogenization and standardization) for the individual actors and an adapted technological development of intermodal transport containers (containers, SAL, WAB). 06/2014

Frame bridge – Handling instruction for the conversion from existing bridges to integral bridges

The objective of this project was the elaboration of the handling instruction for the adaptation of conventional existing bridges to integral bridges by means of a survey of the national and international literature as well as statistical examination taking essential parameters into account. In addition to the essential construction details of the integral or semi-integral bridges (e.g., frame corner and concrete hinge) the deformable slip plate will also be examined and design rules will be suggested.
